Visit gilderlehrman.org/nominate to endorse a teacher for the National History Teacher of the Year Award The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History is seeking nominations for the National History Teacher of the Year. The national winner will receive a $10,000 prize and attend a ceremony in their honor in New York City. For 2018, we are seeking outstanding K–12 teachers who find creative ways to bring history alive in the classroom and in their community. The deadline for 2017 nominations is February 15, 2017.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL HISTORY TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD
Started in 2004, the National History Teacher of the Year Award highlights the crucial importance of history education by honoring exceptional American history teachers from elementary school through high school. Past presenters of the award include First Lady Laura Bush, US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, the Honorable Sandra Day O’Connor, and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
